Forgiveness is meant to be the most healing force that was ever introduced into the human experience. But the ordinary mind doesn't understand it. The only way I can explain that is that we lose so much energy in acts of resentment and in acts of fear.
When you keep your history more alive than your present day life, your body becomes ill because it needs a certain amount of energy per day to thrive.
Your body begins to age faster, you end up going into depression, your immune system drops. All of this is the consequence, believe it or not, of holding onto your history far more than your present day life.
Marianne Williamson
Well, giving up the past is certainly not easy. It's not easy for me or for any of us, but it is the key to the high we seek.
And theoretically, everything we need is in the present. Every person that we need is in front of us. Every opportunity we need is in front of us. If we can focus on the present and live as nobly there, as compassionately there and with as much contribution as possible. Then the past will heal itself and the future will look after itself.
Caroline Myss
The thing that changes in the health world is the capacity to strengthen the mind and the spirit, not just to know more about it, but to live it. And that's the level of spirit that can close its eyes and say to a cancer cell, "Destroy that cell, disintegrate it". And the spirit is strong enough to take that command and convert it into biological truth.
The forgiving heart is capable of anything. I believe that deeply, and that's in terms of becoming an empowered individual. When you get to the point where you realize you can look at someone and say, I love myself enough - not in a schmaltzy, garbage sense, hallmark stuff - I'm talking respecting myself. I respect my life force enough to no longer waste it.
