Self Esteem
Caroline Myss
The truth is that the healing journey begins with the same thing intuitive sight requires, which is a sense of self esteem. If you cannot do what your body needs done, if you cannot manage your own spirit, if you can't honour your own self, not only can you not heal your physical body, but you'll never become, you'll never follow your own intuitive information, because you'll never believe yourself. You'll never trust yourself.

Thomas Moore
I don't think we have to have self esteem. We have to be able to love somebody. That's how you find someone, that's how you find yourself. That's how you find some security. That's where you don't put yourself down because there's a mutuality. And then that can expand to family and to community. And we discover ultimately then that the cure for our loneliness, for our insecurity, for our loss of meaning is not to be found within ourselves, finding out the right words and getting the correct understanding. It's in actually being able to be in a situation where you can give yourself to somebody else. Give yourself to your kids. We as a society don't give ourselves to our children. We don't. I think that's the clearest sign of our soullessness.

So there's the great secret, and the great fear, if we can only overcome it. To open up and say okay, I'm going to give myself here. I'm going to give myself to this person, to these people and suddenly the issue of self esteem doesn't have to be part of our thoughts.
